you know. . .I haven't had a good political rant in awhile
hey! Look what's going on in Florida. More government intervention in personal healthcare issues!!! YAY!!!
Fla. Agency Gets Teen's Abortion Blocked
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The state's social services agency was granted a court order to block an abortion for a pregnant 13-year-old girl living in a state shelter, prompting an emergency appeal Wednesday by the American Civil Liberties Union.
My fellow bloggers over on the The Black Saint had some extremely cogent points about the whole issue which I will quote here:
Boba France: Before Roe vs. Wade, abortion was a criminal act unless delivering the baby would kill the pregnant woman. Abortion was legalized to extend protection of women's rights against contraception failure and unpreparedness for motherhood. It's physically cruel to subject a 13-year-old's body to pregnancy (let alone the behavior that caused her condition). Her pelvis hasn't stopped growing yet.
Medical care should be between a patient and their doctor — not determined by non-medical personnel. Can you imagine if you made an appointment to have your tonsils removed and a group of strangers blocked the procedure? Sure, the Christians are the majority now, but what if the Christian Scientists (or some other group) came into power and believed all sickness could be healed with prayer?
Don't tread on me.
Thank you Boba France for saying that. Hear hear. And BushCo.--you and your minions of evil need to get the fuck outta my backyard. oh when can I become an ex-pat?

Misako Kanjo says:
Senator Jon Kyl (Rep. - Arizona) gave an impassioned statement for the change in abortion law in which he stated that he was concerned that people really seemed to think that "our heroes lying in Arlington National Cemetary fought and died so that people could take our daughters across state lines to murder our grandchildren".
If I am in a battle to keep abortion safe, legal, and smart and the Jon Kyl's of the world are my enemy, how do I fight such an opponant? Rhetoric like that is beyond rational and it's clearly meant to inflame me into my own irrational display. I must stay calm. I must plan carefully.
And then, I will act.
